EppsteinFOILS, formerly Stanniolfabrik Eppstein, has maintained operations at the Eppstein location in the vicinity of Frankfurt since its founding over 160 years ago.

In this time, the company has proven its ability to consistently adapt its market position as a specialist in high-quality non-ferrous metal foils to changing customer requirements.

As far back as 1873, the company participated in the first World's Fair held in Vienna. Additional World's Fair appearances followed in 1883 in Paris and 1893 in Chicago.

The production of tinsel was begun in 1905. A Christmas tree decorated with tinsel and bearing the text "Eis-Thau" was entered into the trademark registry of the imperial patent office. This tradition has stood the test of time, and tinsel is still produced at EppsteinFOILS today.

When Wilhelm Conrad Röntgen discovered X-rays (known in German as "Röntgen rays") in 1895, no one could have foreseen that metal foils from Eppstein would make a key contribution to the practical application of this revolutionary discovery. Foil products for anti-scatter X-ray grids, collimitors for nuclear medicine, dental films as well as non-destructive material testing (NDT) remain important areas of our product range even today.

In mid-2008, the company was renamed to EppsteinFOILS as part of a change in company ownership. This change resulted from a management buy-out completed mid-year as part of a separation from the previous corporate group and represents a consistent expression of the realignment undertaken in recent years and the company's specialisation in new applications.

In preparation for the future, this realignment is intended as an adaptation to the technological changes and new applications in our field, the increasingly international market and the expanded requirements of our customers.
