EppsteinFoils Logo

EppsteinFOILS applies for international patent with the in 2010 first in Germany registered invention for LED application.

Beside its undisputed advantages in energy efficiency and lifetime, LED-technology has the potential for offering design freedom to explore innovative new lighting solutions for the existing illumination markets and, most importantly, completely new illumination applications.

To benefit from this unique opportunity, EppsteinFOILS is developing new, highly flexible and ductile contacting foils consisting of so called functional layers, which are responsible for the optical properties (light guidance and light scattering), the thermal properties (dissipating excess heat), the electrical properties (connecting the LED’s) and the mechanical properties (environmental protection and mounting) needed to realize LED-illumination sub-systems containing a multitude of single LEDs. Such sub-systems, using the new foils, can be directly mounted on 3-dimensional surfaces. This possibility results in substantial, additional design freedom to be used for achieving new lighting effects for applications ranging from general lighting to signage, displays and many more.

A large and mostly untapped market potential exists for such products enabling new design approaches and packaging concepts for new LED-illumination solutions. As a consequence, EppsteinFOILS has now protected its favourable start position in this attractive and emerging market by filing an international patent application for its innovative contacting foil system.
